Class Teacher/Assistant (non music specialist)
As a non music specialist, even if only in your own eyes, you may find music a challenging subject to deliver. These resources have been developed to support you, and motivate your pupils to engage with activities such as singing and understanding musical concepts. The SMILE technology allows you to be totally in charge as you can control the speed, the backing track mix and the animation, giving you a flexible tool to use in your teaching.
The resources, which include songs, pieces, quizzes and videos, can relate directly to your school’s scheme of work, the delivery of whole class instrumental/vocal tuition, and the national curriculum for music. Additionally they can support links to other curriculum areas, particularly useful for topic based learning. There are a range of search facilities to help this.
All the resources from the website can be accessed online or downloaded to your computer’s hard drive, a disk or a memory stick. You can also print out the music and save the backing tracks as mp3 files so they can be used if you, or your pupils, do not have access to an interactive white board or a computer and projector. This allows the resources to be revisited during the week, in class, or sent home.
Whole class instrumental/vocal work (Wider Opportunities) may be delivered in partnership with a visiting music specialist so make the opportunity to plan together and build a bank of lesson resources ready to use in the lessons.
